Bridge of Grace Ministries, as part of its mission to close the economic gap in the southeast quadrant of Fort Wayne, is awarding $5,000 scholarships to seven graduating seniors who live in the Mount Vernon Park Neighborhood. Each of these scholarships is renewable for four years, making the value of the award $20,000 over four years. Funding may be used in the pursuit of certifications, associate degrees, or bachelor’s degrees.
On May 15 at 5:30 p.m., Bridge of Grace will host a reception to introduce and recognize the seven seniors who have demonstrated academic success, leadership, and community service and engagement with the Mount Vernon Park Neighborhood. Bridge of Grace is located at 909 Elmrow Street, Fort Wayne.
With a focus on improving the college-going rate for students who live in the MVP neighborhood and the hopes of one day boosting the median income of its residents, Bridge of Grace partnered with Questa Education Foundation to administer the scholarship.
Bridge of Grace actively sought donors who held the same vision for our youth, including local businessman Larry Lee, whose generous contributions helped make the launch of this scholarship possible. Once funds were accrued, the work to recruit potential scholars began.
The Bridge of Grace scholarship team, along with the Questa Foundation, has walked alongside the students through the application process, completion of the FAFSA, the research of career interests as well as colleges and programs that could match those needs. Finally, on May 15, Bridge of Grace is proud to introduce its first cohort of Mount Vernon Park Scholars.
