The MVP Scholarship empowers Mount Vernon Park students to dream bigger and achieve more. We’re here to help you reach your college and career goals with financial aid, mentorship, and a network of people who believe in you. Along the way, you will gain skills, make connections, and have the chance to give back to the community that shaped you.
Eligible students can receive up to $20,000 (up to $5,000 per year) to cover the cost of attendance after all other grants and scholarships are applied.
Funding can be used for: Certificate programs, Associate degrees, or Bachelor’s degrees
Scholarship funds cover all educational expenses, including tuition, fees, books, room and board, and transportation.
To apply for the MVP Scholarship, students must:
Live in the Mount Vernon Park neighborhood for at least one year prior to high school graduation.
Possess a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
Be accepted to an accredited, nonprofit college, university, or approved post-secondary program (with a priority on local institutions).
Apply for other aid and scholarships.
Complete career exploration activities to help guide college and major choices.
Complete 50 hours of volunteer service in the community (parent volunteers encouraged).
Submit an online application, including a short essay explaining how you plan to give back to the community after graduation.
After the initial application review, finalists will be invited to an interview with the community review team.
Application open January 15 - March 15
The Mount Vernon Park neighborhood is defined by the following boundaries:
South of Pettit Avenue
West of S. Anthony Boulevard
North of Paulding Road
East of Hanna Street
Ongoing Scholarship Requirements
To continue receiving funding each semester, students must:
Make steady progress toward a certificate or degree.
Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 (or meet requirements for certification progress).
Be enrolled full-time (typically 12 credit hours or as defined by apprenticeship/trades program).
Actively participate in the Scholarship Cohort, including peer mentoring for future MVP Scholars.
Stay in regular communication with MVP Scholarship staff during each semester.
Complete Questa compliance checks at the end of each semester.
