Leadership & Staff
Christina K. Smith
Christina K. Smith joined Questa Foundation for Education in early 2009 as executive director. She is responsible for vision casting, strategic planning, program development, community outreach, strategic partnerships, resource development, and board and staff management. Under Christina’s leadership, Questa has experienced a 300 percent growth in the number of Questa Scholar applicants and enjoyed the creation of a number of strategic educational partnerships with colleges and universities in northeast Indiana that increase the amount of pay back assistance available to Questa Scholars.
Christina is a proud Fort Wayne native who returned to her home town after serving in a variety of governmental, humanitarian, public policy and educational leadership roles for the last 17 years. A Middle East and Muslim affairs expert, Christina has served as a foreign policy advisor to three U.S. presidents and Muslim leaders in Iraq, Kuwait, the Palestinian territories and Afghanistan, where she spent nearly seven years helping Afghans rebuild their nation after the Taliban’s ouster in November 2001. After Iraq’s 1990 invasion of Kuwait, she spent four years in Kuwait documenting Iraqi war crimes charged against Saddam Hussein before his execution. More recently, she has been involved in peace building efforts in the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo.
Christina is a 1989 summa cum laude graduate of Huntington University with a bachelor of arts in history and Bible and religion and a 1994 graduate of the University of Virginia with a master of arts in international relations with a concentration in Middle East politics and American foreign policy. She is an adjunct instructor at Huntington University and previously taught international relations courses at Kuwait University and the University of Virginia.
Christina enjoys spending every available moment with her adorable and quite patriotic miniature schnauzer, Lady Liberty. Together they enjoy long walks, kayaking, visits with friends, road trips and reading about history (guess which one reads).

Ashley Meyer
Program Assistant
Ashley Meyer
Ashley Meyer joined Questa Foundation in November 2009 as office and program assistant. In this capacity, Ashley provides indispensable support for all aspects of Questa’s office operations and programs. She serves as the friendly front-line face and voice of Questa, providing helpful, courteous and highly responsive assistance to clients who seek financial support and assistance from the Foundation.
Ashley returned to the U.S. after serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guinea, West Africa from July 2008 through October 2009 where she taught math in French to 175 students in the village of Wonkifong. She and her colleagues were evacuated due to political instability.
Ashley is a 2008 summa cum laude graduate of Huntington University where she received a bachelor of science in mathematics with a minor in physics. While an undergraduate, Ashley studied the interplay between science, literature and Christianity at Oxford University in summer 2005. She also participated in a highly competitive mathematics research project for undergraduate students at Hong Kong Baptist University. Her team’s findings were published in a mathematical journal in 2009.
Ashley is the proud owner of a delightfully engaging, highly inquisitive, one-year old feline, Wonki, who is named in honor of her Guinean village.
The youngest of three sisters, Ashley defies the typical “youngest child syndrome” with her zeal for educational accomplishment. She hopes to begin graduate studies for a PhD in mathematics next fall.
