Questa Scholars Program in Advanced Manufacturing

The Steel Dynamics Questa Scholars Program in Advanced Manufacturing is specially designed for students who wish to pursue full-time studies toward an associate degree in advanced manufacturing from Ivy Tech Community College Northeast.

This specialized program was launched in May 2010 and is underwritten by generous support from Steel Dynamics Foundation.  Questa Scholars in Advanced Manufacturing will be awarded through a competitive selection process.

The Steel Dynamics Questa Scholars Program in Advanced Manufacturing at Ivy Tech is available to qualified applicants from the eleven counties of northeast Indiana.  These include Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Kosciusko, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties.

Applicants for the advanced manufacturing program must meet all other eligibility requirements of the Questa Scholars Program.

Students selected for participation in the Steel Dynamics Questa Scholars Program in Advanced Manufacturing are eligible to borrow up to $5,000 per year ($2,500 per semester) for a total of $10,000 over two years.  If a student graduates with a 2.75 GPA within two years, and elects to live and work in the eleven counties of northeast Indiana for at least five years after graduation, Questa will forgive 50% of the debt over a five year period.

The rate of debt forgiveness over five years is on a graduated scale:

          Year 1 - 5% forgiveness

          Year 2 - 7.5% forgiveness

          Year 3 - 10% forgiveness

          Year 4 - 12.5% forgiveness

          Year 5 - 15% forgiveness

Through a new Questa—Ivy Tech Pay Back Partnership agreement, Questa Scholars in advanced manufacturing who graduate from Ivy Tech Northeast within two years are eligible to have an additional 25% of their Questa loan balance repaid on their behalf by Ivy Tech Northeast immediately.

This means that a Questa Scholar in advanced manufacturing at Ivy Tech Northeast may borrow up to $10,000 over two years and qualify for up to 75% in debt forgiveness (50% by Questa) and loan repayment (25% by Ivy Tech).

Students selected for participation in the Steel Dynamics Questa Scholars Program in Advanced Manufacturing must be continuously enrolled full-time at Ivy Tech Community College Northeast and complete their associate degree in advanced manufacturing within two years.

Questa Scholars in advanced manufacturing who change majors are not eligible to continue to borrow from Questa Foundation. Students who graduate with a degree other than advanced manufacturing are not eligible for debt forgiveness from Questa Foundation or debt repayment by Ivy Tech.
